Virtuoso pianist in free recital at UM

Virtuoso pianist Xiayin Wang (sha-een wong) will perform a free solo recital at Gusman Concert Hall at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 4.
The program will feature Haydn’s Sonata No. 52 in E-flat, Chopin’s Ballade No. 2, Busoni’s transcription of the Bach D minor Chaccone, Scriabin’s Waltz Op. 38, Piazzolla’s Adios Nonino (Tango Rhapsody), and several short pieces by George Gershwin.
Wang will also speak about her life journey at the Frost School of Music’s Piano Forum at 1:25 p.m. Friday, April 3, in Clarke Recital Hall. Tian Ying, chair of the Frost School of Music piano performance department, will interview Wang regarding her upbringing and training as a pianist in China. Piano Forum is free and open to the public.
Gusman Concert Hall and Clarke Recital Hall are at 1314 Miller Drive, Coral Gables.
