Hands on Small Business, hosted by the Politics, World and Business Section of Kirtsy and Microsoft Live, is offering a series of free classes.

Maria de los Angeles, a writer, blogger and social networking maven, will teach a class in social media and online publishing from 11 a.m. to 1 pm. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Brikolodge, 3301 NE First Ave., Miami. Register at Eventbrite .

The hands-on class will cover:

  • Using Twitter to communicate with audiences and customers. We’ll walk through setting up an account and discuss tactics.
  • Using Microsoft Live to run paperwork and projects. We’ll create new accounts and checkout the online workspace.
  • Using Microsoft Live to build a basic website. We’ll browse the service to see what’s available.
  • Using Kirsty for social bookmarking. We’ll also discuss other ways to promote small business online.

Free film, two free Latin concerts

cceeventsThe Centro Cultural Espanol is offering three free events this weekend:

* A free film, El Truco del Manco, at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at at the North Beach Bandshell, 7250 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. The film will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the leading actor, El Langui.

* La Excepción, the leading Spanish leading flamenco hip-hop band, will give a free performance (donations accepted) at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the North Beach Bandshell. El Langui, the leading actor in Friday night’s film, is the band’s leader.

* Jairo Zavala, singer, guitarist and front man for the rock band Vacazul, will give a free performance of Depedro, a mixture of Latin, border fusion, folk, African music, reggae and blues. The event will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at the Colony Theater, 1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach. To reserve tickets, call 305-448-9677.

Free Latin jazz, kids’ carnival

mdccfallfestsmallMiami Dade College’s Kendall campus is having a free Latin Jazz Fest and an almost free kids’ carnival as part of its Fall Fest this week.

The jazz fest, at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the campus’ Fred Shaw Plaza, will feature Arturo Sandoval, Nestor Torres, Albita, Ed Calle, Roberto Perera, Richard Bravo, Negroni’s Trio, Los Herederos, Palo!, Sammy Figuero, Edwin Bonilla, Paquito Hechavarria, Cheito Quiñones, Federico Britos snf Jeff Carswell. Admission is free, but you must get a ticket in room 3129 or the Student Life Office, Room 100. Information: 305-237-2321.

The carnival for children of all ages will be 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at 11011 SW 104 St., on the athletic field. Activities will include enjoy carnival rides, bounce houses, slides, pony and train rides, a rock climbing wall, bungee jumping, stage performances with clowns and dancers, a children’s health pavilion and more. Admission is $1 or a can of nonperishable food for adults. Children under 18 are free.

Free, cheap H1N1 vaccines

shotsResidents of Miami-Dade County can get free H1N1 flu vaccines at several locations.

On Saturday, the Miami-Dade Health Department will have a special free H1H1 vaccination event from 8 a.m. to noon at the Miami-Dade Fairgrounds, 10901 Coral Way.

The county also is giving free H1N1 vaccines at its regular clinics.

Purity Medical Center, 2344 NW Seventh St., Miami, is giving H1N1 vaccines for a $7 administrative fee to people 12 and older. Consultation with a doctor is an additional $25. Hours are 8:30 a.m to 4 p.m., and you can make an appointment or walk in.
