Free music, fun at Calle Ocho

Miami’s largest free street party takes over Southwest Eighth Street from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 14, in the Calle Ocho celebration.

From 11th to 27th avenues, the street will offer multiple stages of free Latin music, plus food, drink and business booths.

Among the performers scheduled to appear are DJ Le Spam and the Spam Allstars, Pitbull, K’Naan, T-Pain, Flo-Rida and Sean Paul.

The multimedia theater piece was created by filmmakers, theater artists and musicians from the United States and Cuba, using cinema and live performance.

The event is presented by the Miami Light Project. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13, at the Byron Carlyle Theater, 500 71st St., Miami Beach.

Free spaghetti at Buca di Beppo

Buca di Beppo is giving away FREE servings of spaghetti Monday, March 15, as the restaurant chain attempts to break the Guinness World Record with a 10,000-pound bowl of spaghetti. I wonder what the previous record is for largest bowl of spaghetti?

Dine-in guests who purchase a Buca Small or a Buca Large pasta or entrée can get a FREE portion of spaghetti with their choice of meat sauce or marinara sauce.

$3.14 pie for National Pi Day

Sunday, March 14, is National Pi Day. Not “pie,” but the 3.14159265 kind that we learned about in school.

Morton’s the Steakhouse is treating National Pi Day like National Pie Day, selling slices of Key Lime pie for $3.14 each (a steal compared to their normal price of $10 a slice). The deal is available from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the main dining area or the bar.

In Miami-Dade, Morton’s is in Coral Gables, Miami Beach, North Miami Beach and Miami.

Seaquarium deal extended to March 31

The event is in celebration of the grand reopening of select Miami stores featuring Latin celebrity and entertainer Sissi. Shoppers will have the opportunity to sample teas as well as enjoy wine and cheese samplings, a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit, entertainment and giveaways.

Free Family Fun Day at museum

The Historical Museum of Southern Florida will focus on community crime-busters at the museum’s free Family Fun Day from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 13.
