Fairchild free sundays in August

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in suburban Miami is offering free admission to everyone on Sundays in August. The garden is open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
During the free Sundays, there will be plant sales, live music, yoga, food vendors and free tram rides. You can find details here.
The garden is also offering 50 percent off new memberships and 10% off for renewals. Merchandise in the garden shop will be 20 percent to 75 percent off July 31 through Aug. 15. Members get an additional 10 percent off.
If you’re busy on Sundays, admission is also free the first Wednesday of the month through December.
If you’re visiting another day, you can use this coupon for $2 off admission through July 31.

$2 off improv comedy show

Impromedy, an improv comedy troupe, is offering Miami FL on the Cheap readers $2 off tickets to its new show, Get Big.
The show is at 8:30 p.m Fridays through Aug. 20 at the Roxy Performing Arts Center, 1645 SW 107th Ave, Miami. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students with ID, but anyone who mentions Miami FL on the Cheap at the door gets in for $8. Parking is free, too.
Get Big is a unique blend of original sketch (think Saturday Night Live, Mad TV) and improv (think Whose Line is it Anyway?) comedy by South Florida’s top improv performers. You can read more about the show here.

Commissioner Edmonson hosts Fun Day

Miami-Dade Commissioner Audrey Edmonson is hosting the 4th annual District 3 Fun Day on Saturday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Olinda Park in Miami.
There will be free food, music, games, raffles and prizes. Students in grades K-12 will receive a free book bag with school supplies on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
Olinda Park is located at 2101 NW 51 St.

Free outdoor jazz at MOCA

The last Friday of the month brings a free jazz concert at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 770 NE 125 St. North Miami.
Featured performer at 8 p.m. Friday, July 30, will be Andrew Atkinson.
The museum is open by donation from 7 to 10 a.m. Admission is always free for children under 12, North Miami residents and city employees.

Viernes Culturales (Cultural Friday) in Little Havana is celebrated the last Friday of the month.
Art, free concerts, food tastings and general free fun are on tap from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Southwest Eighth Street between 14th and 17th avenues.

More than 35 of Miami-Dade’s top spas are offering discounted treatments at a set price of $99 as part of Miami Spa Month, which is really two months and runs July 1 through Aug. 31.
Treatments range from facials to massages and even acupuncture and wellness treatments at Canyon Ranch in Miami Beach.

Free ‘LA Riots’ show at Mansion

Indie dance duo LA Riots is doing a set at Mansion Nightclub in Miami Beach on Wednesday, July 28.
And admission is free for South Florida locals (Miami-Dade and Broward residents). Others get reduced admission.
But you have to RSVP for free entrance to the show, which kicks off late on Wednesday. Enter before 1 a.m. for free admission.
Mansion is located at 1235 Washington Ave., in Miami Beach.
$2 kids’ films, $5 matinees at cocowalk

The Paragon Grove 13 at CocoWalk has two new cheap movie options.
The new Paragon Grove is a 1,500-seat luxury theater featuring stadium seating, SONY 4K high-definition digital projection, three 3D screens, and beer and wine served at concessions.
Here are the new deals:
- Family-friendly films for $2 at 10:30 a.m. every Monday through Thursday until Labor Day. It’s a cash-only deal, with no reserved seating. You can see the schedule here. Proceeds from the showings will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade.
- $5 matinees for first-run films Mondays through Thursdays before 4 p.m.
